El Cuchillo II Aqueduct

The El Cuchillo II Project spanned a total length of 88.4 km, extending from the Auxiliary Pumping Station at the El Cuchillo Dam to the San Roque water treatment plant.

Arendal constructed Section B—comprising 9.2 km of pipeline—running from One-Way Surge Tower 2 Bis to Pumping Station No. 1.

The specific scope of work involved constructing an 84-inch diameter transmission line parallel to the existing aqueduct. This included building a circular reinforced concrete surge tower (12 m in diameter and 10.60 m high) designed to protect the pipeline against water hammer, as well as a square reinforced concrete submergence tank (50 x 50 meters) intended for the re-pumping of the corresponding flow.

Special crossings involving active lines were executed, and interconnections were made via welding at the start (connecting to Section A) and to an existing valve at the end. The project concluded following the successful completion of hydrostatic testing.
